Switchfire is a budget production, belonging to the genre of old-fashioned, arcade shooters. Although the gameplay philosophy strongly resembles unfashionable hits from the eight-bits and the first PCs (River Raid, S.W.I.V., Tyrian), the audio-visual setting looks decent, maintaining the level of modern games of the genre. It is therefore an item designed for experienced, advanced age players who want to remember the old times or simply look for fast, uncompromising and cheap entertainment in the old style. The excuse for a dynamic, spectacular scaling up is a classic sci-fi feature film. Here is our beloved civilisation stood at the end of its existence the humanity practically passed to history, while once vibrant metropolises resemble only gigantic rubbles. Only a small handful of tough guys have survived, but they have no intention of surrendering to merciless armies composed of combat, cybernetic machinery. With three major projects of human technical thought, the player's task is to blast all enemies of humanity from the surface of the Earth and other local planets. So we sit at the helm of one of the available machines (helicopter, jeep, military cutter) and cut out taboos appearing at the top of the enemies' screen. If we can't do it alone, we engage a friend with similar interests in order to fight together, in cooperative mode, battles to death and life with mechanical scourge, earlier of course by determining the allocation of armaments. We have fifteen stages to complete (in three different "worlds": desert, rural and suburban), each to the brim filled with useful power-ups (triple shots, side cannons, guided missiles, etc.).), deadly enemies (e.g. tanks, fighters, armored vehicles usually more than a hundred enemies on one map), and for dessert a classic, giant and mega-hazardous boss, which we have to tear to pieces to advance to the next level.
