Livelock for PC, XONE and PS4 is a cooperation-oriented science-fiction shooter played from the classic top-down view. It was created by Tuque Games – a Canadian studio, and released by Perfect World Entertainment – the owner of the Arc platform popular mainly for Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. Also, Livelock is PWE's first game existing as a premium product, rather than a free-to-play title. PlotThe game is set in far future, about a hundred years after a cataclysm, which resulted in the human species being at the brink of extinction took place. Nearly entire planet is ruled by a faction of the so-called Clusters. What is particularly interesting about them, is that they use machines gifted with digitalized, human consciousness to achieve their goals. The player assumes the role of the chosen one, who can put an end to the machines' domination and reinvigorate the human race during this incessant war over the Earth's resources. MechanicsLivelock for PC, XONE and PS4 focuses mainly on fast-paced, dynamic shooting sequences played from the classic top-down view. The game offers three different characters to choose from; each has a rich weaponry, many useful gadgets and tactical abilities. Although the game resembles classics of the genre in terms of the mechanics – the player traverses subsequent levels and eliminates entire hordes of enemies – the creators offer a large diversity of both the adversaries and locations. Thus the player visits both extensive, open-space areas and half-darkened interiors, fighting differently sized robots and powerful rovers. Each of the latter has its strong and weak spots – identifying those and applying adequate tactics is crucial for victory. Game modesThe game was designed specifically for online, co-op experience for up to three players – each controlling one of the three characters available. The game offers both the classic story mode and the so-called Open Protocol Mode. The latter is based on a concept of procedurally generated levels. Technical aspectsDespite its typical mechanics based on classic concepts, Livelock for PC, XONE and PS4 impresses with modern-day, full-3D visuals complemented by many explosions and spectacular, graphical effects.
