Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky is a JRPG which is part of the popular Atelier series. The production was developed by Gust, the same studio that is responsible for most of the series' releases. Plot The action takes place in a magical land. According to the title, the game tells the story of two characters. Escha Malier is a fifteen-year-old girl whose mother passed on the secrets of alchemical knowledge. Her ambition is to achieve a master level in this art, but currently, she is still a novice and lacks both skills and experience. Logix Fiscario, on the other hand, is an eighteen-year-old young man who studied in the capital until recently. However, he was forcibly transferred to the outcasts unit. It is made up of rebellious students who still have a lot of potential. In combat, he uses both alchemical abilities and his sword. When starting the game, we choose whether we want our main character to be Escha or Logix. The main theme of the story always remains the same, but many events and the list of potential campaign endings change. Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky takes place many years after the events of Atelier Ayesha and during the adventures, we will encounter older versions of characters known from earlier games. Mechanics The game in general outlines resembles typical RPG productions. We focus on completing quests, participating in turn-based fights against monsters and collecting experience points, which we then use to develop skills. However, the core of the whole Atelier series is an extremely complex alchemy system. The player has to look for rare ingredients during adventures and then use them to produce new items. The crafting is not an easy task. Each component is described by a series of stats that determine its quality and how it is synthesized. In addition, we also have to develop our own alchemical laboratory. Technical aspects Atelier Escha & Logy is based on LTGL technology, an engine developed for the Dynasty Warriors series. This allowed the creators to offer large scale battles. This time, we command a six-person party. The authors have also introduced numerous modifications to the gameplay mechanics, which make it easier for new players to understand the complex alchemical system.
