The story focuses on Dixon brothers and their journey to the city of Atlanta, which is believed to be a safe haven for survivors. Players take on the younger of the two siblings Daryl, while the older one, Merle, is controlled by AI. The game was developed as a survival horror. Economical use of ammunition, food, and other supplies is essential, especially that opportunities to replenish these are rare. An important aspect of gameplay are stealth elements, which allow players to avoid some fights with zombies. However, it is not easy, since living dead, while searching for prey, do not rely only on their eyes, but also on hearing and smell. The game?s strong point is its tight connection between the plot and gameplay. The player meets many interesting characters during the adventure and can decide whether to hurt them or give them a hand. Some of these NPCs can join Dixon brothers.
